How we build useful answers
What Should I? is an independent project created by John Huneycutt. Its purpose is to make small everyday decisions easier through practical guides, transparent calculations and optional AI suggestions.
Three kinds of help, clearly separated
Permanent guides explain a method and include examples, tradeoffs and limitations. Browser-based planners apply a fixed formula to inputs you choose. AI suggestions generate an answer from a prompt and can be wrong. Generated answers are not independent product testing, professional advice or live availability checks.
How the content is prepared
The site uses AI assistance in writing and software development. We do not present AI-generated text as firsthand travel, product testing or professional expertise. Examples are illustrative scenarios, not customer testimonials. The November 2026 guide expansion adds original planning examples and tools created for this site rather than reproducing other publishers' articles.
What a useful guide must explain
- The practical question and the constraint that matters most.
- A worked example or actionable checklist.
- The assumptions that could change the result.
- When to consult a primary source, product label or the person organizing an event.
- A way to report a problem.
Calculation methods
The packing planner counts calendar days as nights plus one, limits the clothing cycle to the entered laundry interval, and assumes two wears per top and three per bottom. The dinner planner scales a stated ingredient baseline by whole servings. The gift planner calculates a maximum item price after reserving shipping, wrapping and estimated tax, then rounds down to cents. Each guide includes a worked example so the result can be checked without trusting a black box.
Sources and changing details
We link to primary sources when an external rule matters. Readers should confirm current airport rules, invitation requirements, food labels, streaming availability and checkout totals directly. We avoid inventing current prices, discounts, ratings, customer counts or business partnerships. A guide's update date identifies a content change, not proof that every external detail remains current.
Corrections and maintenance
Use the contact form and choose “Correction or issue.” Include the page URL, the input values if a calculator is involved, the result you received and what you expected. Do not include sensitive information. Confirmed changes belong in the site update log. No fixed response time or update schedule is promised.
Advertising and independence
The site is being prepared for Google AdSense review. Advertising is not an endorsement and must be distinguishable from the site's tools and editorial content. Generated answer pages and account screens are not advertising inventory in the current implementation. We do not sell a favorable position in these guides or claim to have tested products that we have not tested.
